About

Hello and welcome to the All Things Weight Loss website.

This is the site where you can find well-researched and evidence-based information on how to lose weight in a healthy and sustainable way and improve your health and well-being in general.

Overweight and obesity are a staggering and growing problem worldwide. Obesity has presently surpassed the hunger problem. We now have around 2 billion overweight or obese people compared to around 1 billion hungry people in the world.

The US leads all developed countries with over 70% of the adult population classified as overweight or obese. The obesity problem is similarly prevalent in many other developed countries (e.g. the UK, Australia, New Zealand).

Furthermore, in the last few decades, obesity has become a major problem in developing countries because of improved living conditions and people adopting Western lifestyles and diets. People consume more calories, do less physical work, and move less.

For many developing nations, obesity has become a more serious health problem than hunger. In countries such as Mexico, Egypt, and South Africa, more than half of adults are either overweight or obese. In most of Latin America, the Middle East, and North Africa, at least one in four adults is overweight.

The rise in the number of overweight and obese people worldwide shows no sign of abating. The health and financial costs of this health epidemic are also mounting.

There are many serious health risks associated with being overweight such as coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, gallstones, some types of cancers, infertility, anxiety, and depression.

And world health organizations and governments have failed to produce any effective strategies to combat this global pandemic so far.

Despite so much money and effort put in to produce one after another dietary guidelines and health initiatives, the number of people who are overweight or obese continues to rise.

People can’t no longer wait for the governments to get their act together.

And this is what this site is about. The articles on this site aim to help individuals who want to lose weight and improve their health and well-being in a healthy and sustainable way.
